Esquire’s 1951 calendar is probably my favorite. I don’t know why exactly; maybe because this is the first vintage pinup calendar I ever saw when I was doing estate sales on eBay. It’s a very cool calendar with some super artwork (by Al Moore) of some very gorgeous pin-up girls. Enjoy!

1950 was a swell year to get the Esquire pinup calendar - it had some creamy dishes inside. I’m talking about the pin-up girls of course. This one features Al Moore artwork, which is some of the best - ever. I love these pinup pics and you will too…

The Ballyhoo Pinup Calendar for 1952 is a tantalizing collection of sexy ladies. Ballyhoo was a men’s/humor magazine which was published during the 30’s through the 50’s and it featured pin-up girls. Good pin-up girls. Sexy pin-up girls. The artwork on these calendar pages is quite good. I’m not sure who the artist for these pinups was, but this would be one of the better calendars I’ve seen. Enjoy!

Sexy Ridgid Pinup calendar girls from 1952 and 1953 - all by George Petty.
George Petty was one of the top “cheesecake” pinup illustrators of the 30s and 40s. He began his career with a series of cartoons featuring beautiful girls and their far from handsome beaus. His work coined the term “Petty Girls” to describe the carefully airbrushed girls with brilliant smiles and sexy poses. He left Esquire, to be replaced by Alberto Vargas who we will be featuring here soon, and became a freelance commercial artist. His girls soon ended up gracing magazine ads and calendars for such unlikely products as Tung-Sol Radio Tubes and the aptly named, Ridgid Tools. These calendar pages are among the most sought after pinup collectibles, selling for as much as $40 to $50 a sheet.

These are six sexy pinup girl matchbook covers, all from the early 1950s. The Petty Girl is probably just as well-known as the Varga Girl, and you will find Petty’s artwork featured quite often on tool calendars and ads and also on matchbooks.
I found this collection of six vintage Petty Girl pinup matchbook covers on eBay recently. It’s a fine example of Petty’s work and it appears these covers are in very good condition.

These are very good pics but I wish they were a little bit larger! Very nice collector’s items.

This is the Ballyhoo calendar from 1953. This awesome 1950s pin-up girl artwork is by Freeman Elliott I believe. Click on any of the pin-up girls for a larger image!
