1946 marks the final year that Alberto Vargas worked for Esquire (although they continued to publish his work for two more years). The calendar for this year is presented here for you to see.

Esquire’s 1945 Vargas Calendar is once again full of twelve knockouts - one pinup for each month. Take a gander at these fine dames, will ya?

We’re gonna go even further back into the 1940s, all the way to 1941 this time so we can take a peek at the Varga Girls of ‘41. This one came in a pretty plain envelope for the mailer - so there’s nothing flashy about the sleeve. But it’s what inside that counts - the pinups!

Imagine it’s 1944, and you walk into a car garage because you need your ‘39 Mercury serviced. Hanging on the wall behind the counter is the most eye-catching picture you’ve ever seen…

This is a very rare find: a vintage deck of VARGAS Pin-up Girl playing cards, still sealed! Apparently this deck of cards actually came from the Vargas estate and obviously the pack was never opened. Click the following link to see the auction: VARGAS Pin-up Girls Playing Cards - Rare Sealed Mint Deck.
Here is a picture of the playing card box:
Playing cards are a desirable collector’s item, and while it’s amazing these cards are still sealed we would love to be able to view each card to see the pinups! The lucky winner of this deck will have a very cool piece to add to a pinup (especially Vargas) collection.
Click here to view the eBay listing and see more pics of the auction.
These vintage pin-up playing cards are adorned with the luscious Varga Girls - each posing in a tantalizing way. Each of the girls on the Aces salutes a branch of the U.S. military, and each girl was featured in Esquire magazine in some way. I believe these are from a 1946 card deck but I am not positive.

This is the Vargas 1941 Esquire Pin-up Calendar featuring the artwork of Alberto Vargas. This calendar exhibits some of Alberto Vargas’ Varga Girls as published by Esquire Magazine. In one of these calendar pictures it’s possible that Vargas hoped to evoke the popular Norwegian skating figure Sonja Henie. (Henie won the gold medal for figure skating at the 1928, 1932, and 1936 Winter Olympics. She also starred in several films in the 1930s and 40s.)
